Trypanosomes
Is within-host competition observed in mixed Trypanosome clone infections?
Trypanosomiasis is a major socio-economic disease of humans and animals in sub-Saharan Africa. Our aim is to study host-parasite interactions using in vivo and in vitro models focussing primarily on within-host competition in collaboration with Keith Matthews and Dave Barry.
The longer term goal of this work is to develop work in a natural host-pathogen context where experimental studies in the field are possible (T. congolense in African cattle).
